June!!! My Birthday Month

It is June!!! I have always loved June! I don’t think the only reason is that it is my birthday month. But, it is my birthday month too! I will soon turn 64!

June is always when summer vacation began when I was a child. It was a month to start seeing the garden plants come to life on the farm and to hear the newly hatched birds taking flight for the first time. It was a time of wonderfully green grass beneath my bare feet and baby pigs in the barnyard. I used to balance my weight on the boards above the pigpens where the mother sows were feeding the babies and peer down into the pens. There were signs of growth everywhere on the farm and the weather finally became warm enough to play in the sprinklers in our yard. June held hope for a wonderful, fun-filled summer. I feel that hope today. It is June.

My Zen Kin® Cousins Project will be winding down to an end. The final day for the project is July 15. It is like a beginning for me because I will be displaying this amazing “Wall of Katrina’s Zen Kin® Cousins” for all to see on August 15! This is the beginning of the end. The enthusiasm for the project is in full swing now. I have received 451 cousins but just yesterday there were over 400 receiving the instruction for the project in Spanish and are busy creating their unique Zen Kin® Cousins. Some creators have already created their cousins and those cousins are being sent this very day from all around the world to join those already here. Some of the Zen Kin® Cousins are taking long journeys that were started weeks ago. It is exciting to know that they are all taking flight like those baby birds I mentioned above.

I am the one who is fortunate enough to be able to have these all with me at my home. I am the one that gets thanks and appreciation for the opportunity to participate in this worldwide project. I want to share that with you. If you have sent a Zen Kin® Cousin, or are contemplating sending one, then you are the ones that are making this project successful. I had the idea. You are the ones that are making it happen. I want you to know that all the others that have sent a Zen Kin® Cousin are feeling a connection to you. They are sending them because they know they will be joined here with yours. They want to be a part of this community. So please feel as though you are, in fact, one of a community of many who want to spread joy and foster that community feeling. You are important and appreciated.

I did not set out to have a goal to get a Zen Kin® Cousin from every country and every state in the USA. I just had a goal of a community of creators that joined together from anywhere in the world. I now have Zen Kin® Cousins here that have been created in 11 countries. I am so happy about that. There is no way that I would expect every country in the world. I am very happy. I have cousins from 41 different states of the USA here. I now have a desire to see if I can have a Zen Kin® Cousin from every state of the United States of America. I would like all, but am setting my sights on the 50 states. So, I am going to list the missing states and if you know ANYONE from any of these states, please give them the website so that they might consider participating.

There are 39 days until the project comes to a close. I will keep the Facebook group open long after that date. If you have not joined that group, I would love to have you join. It is called Katrina’s Zen Kin® Cousins Community and we now have 941 members there. Won’t you join us? Members post pictures of their Zen Kin® Cousins there. As you may remember, if you watch the video and make a Zen Kin® Cousin for the project, then you may make additional Zen Kin® Cousins and those can also be posted on the Facebook group.
