A Sneak Peek at Katrina’s Zen Kin® Cousins Project Wall. Another New End Date and more…
NEW END DATE DECEMBER 31, 2021!
I am so excited to share with you all some of the wonderful Zen Kin® Cousins that have been created and are now on Katrina’s Zen Kin® Cousins Wall. This is just a sneak peek and so if you don’t see yours here, that doesn’t mean it is not already on the wall. Please take a look at the video below. Make sure you have the sound on for some commentary by me. I am so honored to be the designer of this project and so humbled by the awesome participation I have had so far. I am looking forward to additional cousins showing up here as I extend the deadline for submissions. I just can’t stop this wonderful project and the pandemic is not going away soon. This is an opportunity to spread joy and foster community during a global pandemic through art. What a joy! What a marvelous thing! I am so very grateful to all of you.
As you may know, this project involves watching a video that I have made explaining how to make a Zen Kin® Cousin. The instructions are easy and the creator does not need to have any experience drawing at all! To see the video, go the home page of this website. When the first cousin is completed, the creator draws another one very similar to the first one by again following the video. The first Zen Kin® Cousin is sent off in the mail to my home address, PO Box 393 Angola, IN 46703. The other cousin stays with the creator.
I could have easily designed this so that it was simply a digital submission, but I wanted to have these wonderfully drawn cousins all in the same spot in the world. It has been so awesome to receive these envelopes from many different countries and many states in the US. The cousins that stay home are a reminder of the connection to the wall of cousins here. Side by side these cousins represent the cooperation of over 600 different creators during a time when we are all faced with a new way of living during this COVID pandemic. Many have told me of their joy while creating these whimsical characters. Drawing Zen Kin® Cousins is a fun activity that anyone can do in their own spaces and in their own time. It is gratifying to see them “come to life” as the pen moves across the paper. They represent family and connection. We are all cousins in this world and these Zen Kin® Cousins are all very different and yet all so alike. We share a common bond as creators of these characters. We also all share a common bond of going through this time in life where we are faced with a global pandemic. This project is a small way to bring us together while we remain separated.
The characters are an extension of my art which I call Zen Kin®. I have given permission to the creators participating in this project to name their characters Zen Kin® Cousins. They must follow certain guidelines in order to be called a Zen Kin® Cousin. Please consider joining us in this project. I would be honored to have your unique contribution and the other cousins are just waiting for yours to arrive!
The NEW DATE is now December 31, 2021. I will accept and appreciate any Zen Kin® Cousins for the project until the end date of DECEMBER 31, 2021. The project will be completed by early 2022, so please consider sending by mail your own Zen Kin® Cousin so that they can be displayed on the wall. It is an easy date to remember…the last day of this interesting year. Please tell all your friends and family about this amazing project. As I mentioned, there is no experience needed. Creators just need to have a desire to be a part of a worldwide project that connects people from around the world through the joy of creating a Zen Kin® Cousin!
I will end this with a random picture of me eating a Dilly Bar from Dairy Queen. There is no reason for the picture to be here and that is why it is fun. Have a great day and let me know if there are any questions for me. You can reach me at katrinathiebautczt@gmail. Or join my Facebook group called Katrina’s Zen Kin® Cousins Community! Thanks to my team, Chelsea, Tasha, Chase and Randy and thanks always to Zentangle®.
I hope you are finding joy. I appreciate you. Stay safe.
Fondly, Katrina
