85 Days Until the Project, Katrina’s Zen Kin® Cousins Project, Ends…Won’t you join us?
Hello! Today it is snowing in Indiana. I am so sad that I can not go out and play in the snow. I have 12 stitches in my leg that would not fare well with me stomping out a Zen Kin® in my snowy yard. My heart is out there making a Zen Kin® but my better sense keeps me inside.
It is time to update everyone on the project I am doing anyway. The project is called Katrina’s Zen Kin® Cousins Project. I assume most of you know that I create whimsical characters that have tangles for hair. I use the Zentangle® method of drawing and call my characters Zen Kin®. My project is one that has a goal of fostering community and spreading joy through the making of Zen Kin® Cousins. I have given my permission to write Zen Kin® Cousin on art made by following along to my video and making a drawing based on my instruction. Once the drawing is done, it is sent to me where I will assemble a wall of these cousins. All the information can be found by going to the video here. I now have 294 Cousins for the Wall of Cousins. There are 85 days left before the project ends. It has been an amazing experience for me so far. I think I have been able to spread joy through this project as I wanted and I feel it will continue in the coming days. Here are just a few of the 294 that have come to my home.
Every day I am excited to see what comes in the mail. There have been just two days where I have had none. The last blog post date and now today. I guess it gives me time to write in my blog! I write emails to each person when I receive their Zen Kin® Cousin and I take a picture of each of them, front and back. My daughter is helping me by typing up the information for my files of what creators have drawn Zen Kin® Cousins. I also monitor and talk with people on my Facebook group, Katrina’s Zen Kin® Cousins Community, where we now have 738 members. This group is a wonderful place of community. Extra Zen Kin® Cousins that creators make can be posted in the group for all to meet and enjoy. If you are not a member, please consider joining us.
Thank you seems such a small phrase for what I am feeling towards all the wonderful Zen Kin® Cousin Creators. You all are making this project what it is. I have had so many comments on what good feelings participants get knowing that they are drawing a character while others from around the world are doing the same. The wonderful art is traveling from far and wide to join together as a community of artists creates a community of Zen Kin® Cousins. In turn, there is a community of Zen Kin® Cousins Creators that have a shared and meaningful experience. Please consider joining in and also spreading the news of this wonderful project.

Katrina.. I had not heard about your project before Tangle U. I’m so excited to add to your wonderful project. I wondered if these 4 specific tangles were a universal requirement, but looking back at your wall, my question is answered. Mine will be in the mail this week.
