Katrina’s Zen Kin® Cousins Project and Katrina’s Zen Kin® Cousins Community Update
Hi! I sometimes wonder if I say enough about Zentangle® and how much it means to me. Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts are the founders of Zentangle®. I thank them, their family, and their staff daily in my mind for all that they have given to me and others through the Zentangle® method of drawing. They have won my heart and encouraged me to bring my art to you. I am a certified Zentangle® teacher and I couldn’t be more proud of what that means. They have made a company that is caring, nurturing, and inspiring to me and to many. So, Zentangle®, if any of you are reading this, thank you again and again and again. Please consider visiting their website Zentangle.com to learn more about tangling using the Zentangle® method of drawing.
I would like to update you on my current project, Katrina’s Zen Kin® Cousins Project. Wow! I am without words to express this feeling I am getting from all of you. I feel a community forming with those that are participating. I am feeling something happening that is bigger than me. It has a life of its own. This project belongs to us all. Thank you.
I am going to post a few of the Zen Kin® Cousins that have been pouring in to my home. The cousins are all so busy getting to know each other and they are having a great time. I have been enjoying the posts of all the cousins at my new group, Katrina’s Zen Kin® Cousins Community on Facebook. There are over 200 members in that group and if you have not yet joined I would be honored if you would consider it.
I am at the same time amazed at how far reaching the word has gotten of this project, and at how some of my most familiar friends have not gotten the word yet. That is why I continue to post the project link over and over again. I do not want anyone to feel obligated to join, but do not want someone to be left out by my not making it known.
To all of you that have already participated, please consider informing your family and friends and fellow tanglers about this project. I would love to get as many participants as possible.
I would like to thank my daughter, Chelsea, for helping me with so many aspects of this project. She is helping with the group and also helping me to be organized with all the Zen Kin® Cousins that are coming my way. Many of my family members help me and encourage me. I am grateful for that.
Please know that I appreciate each and every one of you and thank you for reading these updates. I am filled with awe at the wonderful way you all have taken my video and the directions there and turned it into some amazing, joyful, personal Zen Kin® Cousins. Remember that the video is free to see and if it is shown in a class, that class does not charge you for viewing and following it. CZTs don’t teach this, only I do, but your CZT may have information as to how to see the video. I have had CZTs tell me that they are doing Zoom get togethers and splitting the screen to show my video while they do the project together. What a perfect way to do a free session! You may ask your CZT if this is an option for you.
I have talked to many of you and many of you have written me some very touching notes about how this project has made you feel. I am glad to know that I am reaching my goal and mission for this by spreading joy and fostering community. I couldn’t be more grateful.
How many Zen Kin® Cousins will be on the wall? Only time will tell. I have not set an ending date yet because I want to see what the response is to the project. I know mail time is long for some of the different parts of the world. If you are having difficulties, then please let me know. I plan to give a notice of a few weeks before ending the project and removing the video.
My big news today is the video has had 1,000 views so far! That amazes me and makes me feel excited to see what might arrive in my mailbox. So far I have 82 different people that have sent me Zen Kin® Cousins. Some sent multiple cousins! I am going to have an “extras” wall of cousins also. Send as many as you wish! Make sure that one of them is in black ink with a white tile and it uses only the four tangles set out on the video. The additional ones can be any tangles at all! I hope you have fun with it.
You all make my day, every day, by being interested in my Zen Kin®. You are appreciated by me whether or not you are participating in my Katrina’s Zen Kin® Cousins Project.
Stay tuned. I am grateful, Katrina
