Joyous News from Katrina

Hello! I am so happy that so many wonderful things have been happening. I released the book, Katrina’s Zen Kin® Cousins: A Worldwide Project. I released a digital presentation of that same project and now I have produced a brand new video to teach how to make a Zen Kin® Cousin. It is a free video class taught by me that anyone may watch to experience the joy of making a whimsical Zen Kin® Cousin that spreads joy by being drawn and shared with others.

CZTs- I am happy to announce that I am now giving permission for CZTs to teach a free “How to draw a Zen Kin® Cousin” class. This class’s purpose is to spread joy and foster community. That lesson plan can be found by going to the Facebook Group called Certified Zentangle Teachers and clicking on the files tab. There will be several CZTs that will help me in this endeavor to spread joy and foster community. We all can benefit from generosity, community, and joyous artistic expression at this time in our lives and I am excited to see who might want to spread joy in this way. Please let me know if you teach this class.

Now there are many ways for you to learn to draw a Zen Kin® Cousin and become part of the family of Zen Kin® Cousin creators. As you may remember I have a Facebook group called Katrina’s Zen Kin® Cousins Community where many post pictures of their drawn Zen Kin® Cousins. It is a wonderful group and you may join even if you have not yet drawn a cousin to share. It is a community that has been formed because of these whimsical characters that spread joy.

I am thinking about my next big project. It is fun to have Katrina’s Zen Kin® Cousin project completed and very exciting to think of the future of my Zen Kin® and the Zen Kin® Cousins. I am hopeful that I will have the honor to see more and more cousins being created by having my video available and having some joy-spreading CZTs teach it free to students all over the world. I am also honored to think that some will watch my video and create a cousin. I look forward to the next project!

There have been over a thousand different Zen Kin® Cousins drawn and each one of these is somewhere spreading joy. What more could I ask of this wonderful experience?! I am so grateful and appreciative of each one of you and all your cousins. We are all related in some way to one another and I hope that seeing a Zen Kin® Cousin will remind us all that our differences and similarities are to be celebrated and embraced. We are all one community on this earth and I hope that you are inspired to spread joy in any way that you are able. I am feeling joyous about this new chapter of my Zen Kin® and Zen Kin® Cousins.
